Why We NEED Measure B

WITHOUT raising your local tax rate, VOTE YES on Measure B for Lakeport Unified School District (LUSD) neighborhood schools.  The need is great and our Lakeport kids are worth it!

Today’s graduates must compete in a highly technical workforce and global economy.  We need schools with modern classrooms, labs and technology to better prepare students for college, good paying jobs and career success.

Unfortunately, our Lakeport Unified School District schools have grown old, really old.   In fact, the newest Lakeport school was built nearly 40 years ago.  They desperately need repairs and upgrades. Measure B ensures safe, clean, dry schools for our children.

Measure B will:

  • Upgrade career and workforce education classrooms so students can acquire real-world skills to compete for good-paying jobs.
  • Improve campus safety and security with fire alarms, security systems, lighting, and cameras.
  • Repair aging and deteriorating electrical wiring, plumbing, lighting, walls, and roofing.
  • Ensure access to air conditioning for students and teachers, and places for youth to attend after-school activities.
  • Improve classroom environments to retain and attract quality teachers.

Measure B WON’T raise your tax rate.  It simply extends WITHOUT increasing the bond authorization originally approved by Lakeport voters in 2001.  VOTING YES continues this locally controlled funding for school repairs, safety and upgrades ONLY.

No other funding exists to address these needs.

Taxpayer protections are REQUIRED.  NO funds are allowed for administrators’ salaries. MANDATORY audits, citizens’ oversight, and annual public reporting ensure funds are spent properly.  ALL MEASURE B FUNDS STAY LOCAL, benefitting local Lakeport schools.

Even without school-age children, Measure B is a wise investment. Great schools protect property values.

Lakeport Unified teachers, parents, and civic leaders across our community urge your support.

Please, VOTE YES on Measure B for local schools, WITHOUT raising your tax rate.

REMEMBER The need is GREAT and our Lakeport kids are worth it!
